After much (rather obsessive) research, I decided to purchase an older Canon model instead of the newer R5 & R6. BUT WHY? Let me tell you…it was not an easy decision.

One major consideration was budget! Because the R has been out longer, I was able to purchase used. At $1400 after tax, it was much easier on my budget. The R5 was especially out of reach at $3900!

The next consideration was technical. It was important that my new camera be an upgrade from the 5D Mark III that I currently owned. All three cameras had significantly more focus points and better ISO capabilities than my Mark III. But the R6 actually had lower resolution! So that was a no from me. The R5 was SO much of an upgrade that the video files were going to crash my computer. Based on those factors (and a few more things I elaborate on in my Youtube video), I gave up my second memory card slot to purchase the Canon R and I love it so far!
